Overlapping Felt

Promenade Tiles

When using Promenade Tiles on Overlapping Felt Castle PU Adhesive should be used as the fixing method. Simply apply the tiles using our specially formulated PU Adhesive following the instructions.

Instructions are available online to download and on the label of all Castle PU Adhesive bottles.

It is necessary to consider the effect of the overlap on the level of the tiles. The overlap will generally produce a high strip of 3-6mm and this would cause the tiles to rock or to be uneven on the top surface.
There are a number of ways of easily overcoming this situation:-

1. Fill the gap between the overlaps with a further layer of felt.

2. Fill the gap with hot bitumen to take up the difference in level.

3. Use the Castle designed Soft Packers to temporarily hold the tile up to the same level as the overlap and then use slightly more PU Adhesive which will foam up to fill the gap caused under the tile by the Soft Packer. As the packer is soft it will not point load the tile when the adhesive has cured.

300 x 300 Promenade Slabs

300 x 300 Promenade Slabs can also be used on Overlapping Felt and in this case the overlaps are dealt with by using the levelling discs at the necessary positions. This solution then gives the added advantage of easy removal for inspection, services, alterations and any number of other reasons for wanting to lift and relay the promenade slabs.

The 300 x 300 range is also ideal for areas where a light weight and/or low threshold level solution is required.

450 x 450 Promenade Slabs

450 x 450 Promenade Slabs can also be used on Overlapping Felt and in this case the overlaps are dealt with by using the levelling discs at the necessary positions. This solution then gives the added advantage of easy removal for inspection, services, alterations and any number of other reasons for wanting to lift and relay the promenade slabs.

The 450 x 450 range of Promenade Slabs are manufactured and tested in accordance with BS EN1339 which covers paved areas and roof coverings. This ensures consistency of product and gives confidence that the product will be strong, durable and slip resistant.

Self weight of the 450 x 450 range is 80Kg /M2 for the 38mm thick and 105Kg/M2 for the 50mm thick but at 16Kg for the 38mm thick and 21Kg for the 50mm thick they are all within the 25kg recommended lifting limit advised by the HSE.

Rubber Promenade Tiles

Rubber Promenade tiles can be used on overlapping felt by simply applying the tiles with our specially formulated Castle XP 2435 PU Adhesive following the instructions.

As our rubber tiles are flexible they are very easy to lay and overlaps in the felt can be taken up with the tile.

Rubber tiles must be laid with a 3mm gap between each tile and around the outside of the layout to allow for drainage and thermal expansion.

We recommend the use of our rubber tiles on low to medium trafficked areas as they do wear more than our GRC range of products.

Instructions for PU Adhesive are available online or on the label of every bottle of Castle PU Adhesive.
