Ped Pavers from Castle Composites have been designed and manufactured utilising 30 years of experience producing paving for the flat roof and balcony market in the UK.

Composition & Breaking Loads

Ped Pavers are manufactured from a unique blend of high strength concrete containing silica sand, granite, high strength cement, high tech alkali resistant glass fibres and special additives. This blend of high quality materials (GRC) creates a very hard wearing and strong paver that is suitable for use on adjustable pedestals and supports without the need for any central support. Load tests while on pedestals give a breaking load of 410kg per slab.

Dimensions

Ped Pavers are available in one size of 500x500x25mm. This gives an easy to calculate quantity of 4 pavers per m2. The side wall of the pavers are squared, which is a more favourable option when used with pedestals. Some products on the market have what is called a draw on the side wall which means the slab is wider at the base than it is as the surface. This creates larger gaps when used with pedestals which can be unsightly and a hazard to people walking with heels.

Weight

Ped Pavers are 11kg each giving a per m2 weight of 44kg. Considering the high strength of our pavers they have a very low imposed load in comparison to other products that achieve similar load results. At 11kg each they are also well within the HSE guidance for manual handling.

Surface Finish

Ped Pavers have a textured finish which offers both practical and aesthetic benefits. The added surface grip achieved improves safety by reducing the risk of slip, especially in wet conditions, making it ideal for flat roof and balcony paving. Please see our data sheet for full slip resistance test results. It also enhances visual appeal giving a more natural stone look that adds character and depth. Textured surface finishes also have the added benefit of helping to disguise any minor stains or weathering to keep the paved area looking attractive for longer.

Fire Rating

As Ped Pavers are manufactured from concrete they are a Class A1 non combustible product. If the area where the pavers are to be installed requires a fire rating we recommend installing them on our ALU fire rated pedestal system.

Installation & Designs

Installation is relatively straight forward for Ped Pavers. All of our pedestal options have a full guide to laying available for download. Calculating all of the sizes of pedestals to accommodate threshold heights and drainage falls can however be more complex.

We offer a free design service to take away the hassle of the calculations. When the design is complete it also serves as a install guide for where each slab pedestal is to be positioned.

Warranty & Life Expectancy

Ped Pavers are backed by a 10 year manufacturers warranty. Any pavers found to be faulty will be replaced at no cost. Labour costs for any installation will not be covered as part of the warranty.
